Sisterhood Series - Bridgette O'Sullivan
Welcome to the fourth edition of our Sisterhood Series, where we celebrate the inspiring women who surround and support the Sisters & Co community.
This month, we had the pleasure of sitting down with the effortlessly stylish and incredibly grounded Bridgette O’Sullivan – businesswoman, creative force, and owner of the award-winning venue The Red Barn. Known for its breathtaking setting and unforgettable events, The Red Barn has become one of the country’s most sought-after wedding and event destinations.
From workwear staples to life philosophies, here’s what Bridgette had to share.
What are your three go-to pieces in your work wardrobe?
Right now, it’s all about effortless structure. I’m loving my Harris Wharf London Long Coat, Victoria Woods black pant, and a classic Anine Bing Hilda black pump – simple, polished, and easy to move in.
Any non-negotiables in your morning routine that help set the tone for the day?
Absolutely. I start with hot water and apple cider vinegar, followed by a coffee outside – it’s my moment to centre myself and map out the day ahead.
Tell us the story behind The Red Barn – how did this beautiful venue come to life?
We purchased Rockspring Farm back in 2006 to build our family home. The historical Red Barn came with the property – a beautiful surprise. After hosting a few private parties, we decided to renovate the barn for weddings and events. It's grown year on year, and in 2023 we proudly won Wedding Venue of the Year.
Your daughter Caitlin recently got married at The Red Barn – how did that feel?
It was an incredibly special moment. Hosting Caitlin and Tom’s wedding at our home venue felt surreal. I was proud of how beautiful everything looked, the service, the dining – it flowed perfectly. What really struck me was how I felt the same care and pride planning Caitlin’s wedding as I do for every couple who walks through our doors. That was a big moment for me – both as a mum and a venue owner.
Is there a mantra or quote that guides you?
“There are only so many ‘F’s you can give in a day. So use them wisely.”
In other words – don’t sweat the small stuff.
What advice would you give to women just starting their founder journey?
Business is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy it, pace yourself, and always listen to your customer.
After nearly two decades in business, what part of the journey are you most proud of?
I love seeing people grow and thrive through what we do. I’m proud of the memories we’ve helped create – but most of all, I’m proud of the family-orientated workplace culture we’ve built at The Red Barn. That means everything.
Between running a business, multiple homes, and family life – how do you balance it all?
I won’t say I always get the balance right! But right now, I feel like we have the right team in place. That makes a huge difference. We’re in a good flow at the moment… famous last words!
From wedding day dreams to daily rituals, Bridgette brings warmth, intention, and style to everything she touches. We’re honoured to spotlight her story in this edition of the Sisterhood Series.
Stay tuned for more inspiring conversations with the incredible women behind the Sisters & Co community.
